Wings of pride

Jessica’s wings are filipino…

Jessica stands in front of the box containing the wings for The Impossible Airplane.

We’re not kidding!

The wings for The Impossible Airplane arrived. (We are a little late in getting this update out, but it’s been a busy start to the year!)

The massive box contains both “Quick Build” wings (or QB for short). We are really excited to break into them and to share who is helping trick them out, but that will have to wait. The QB fuselage could arrive as late as August. Our team of volunteers in New Jersey can finish the wing build quickly, so the thought is to keep the wings safely in their crate until later this summer. Then finish the wings just in time for the fuselage to arrive.

But one of the most exciting things we learned was that these wings were assembled in the Philippines! Jessica’s mother was born in the Philippines, and even though Jessica was born in the States, she has made many trips to her mother’s homeland over the years. As her husband, I’ve been lucky to go on more than a few of those trips.

It’s very poignant to know that Jessica will literally be lifted into the air, at least in part, by Filipino handiwork.

More info is coming soon! We can’t wait to show you what it was like to put the simulator for The Impossible Airplane on a horse-drawn wagon!
